Tegan and Sara Quin were born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1980 and began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of Fifteen. These Canadian twin females have been in the music industry for over 13 years. These ladies are in a lane of their own. Making a musical statement in a vast industry they bridge rock, pop, electronic and alternative into the indie world with many different artist. This has allowed their music to cross over into other genres. They have been covered by The White Stripes with their original song “Walking with a Ghost” to collaborating with superstar DJs such as Tiesto and David Guetta, Morgan Page and many more artist.
Having sold nearly 1 million career albums and toured with acts from The Killers to Neil Young, Tegan and Sara have now released their 7th studio album Heartthrob and they are acclaimed international celebrated songwriters, performers, and artists. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, attaining the band’s highest US chart position thus far. Below is a snippet of the whole album in less than 4 minutes!
Looking back to their previous work Tegan and Sara have released 7 albums; Under Feet Like Ours (1999), This Business of Art (2000), If It Was You (2002), So Jealous (2004), The Con (2007), Sainthood (2009) and Heartthrob (2013) including special DVD’s, releases and unheard demos.
Tegan and Sara opened for the band Fun on their Most Nights Summer Tour which began in Toronto, Ontario. When Tegan and Sara are not in the studio recording or chilling back home in Canada they can been seen traveling on Tour across the world. They have performed in many well-known festivals including Mariposa Folk Festival, Sarah McLachlan’s Lillith Fair, Coachella, Lollapalooza, SXSW, Boston Calling, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo and The Toronto World Pride 2014. In July 2014 the duo opened for Lady Gagas 2014 concert tour in Quebec, Canada.
Though their music is not openly political, Tegan and Sara are very politically and socially engaged. They are outspoken advocates for LGBT equality and have done countless fundraisers for youth organizations, music education, literacy, cancer research and LGBT advocacy.
Tegan currently lives in Vancouver, Sara lives in Montreal. Tegan and Saras music connects all people, whether your in a relationship, about social change, learning to become your own person in life, dealing with a personal situation, losing a loved one, finding love or just partying with your friends, listen to the lyrics and let it get in your heart.
