Deadmau5 Is Back At It

Joel Zimmerman is back on the cloud with new music to woo the fans with. A double dose of new mau5 production. Joel may dissapear for a while at a time musically with, getting blog famous off his tweets, but when he hits the studio he always comes out with quality production. Getting better every single time too. His last big project While(1<2) was released in June of 2014, last year. While it probably does not take Joel that long to perfect a masterpiece.

Joel goes in a different direction from (While (1<2), where as that project took more soundscape vibe in majority of the tunes, Imaginary Friends goes back to the roots of deadmau5 music. The harmonious intros and buildups to the down driving basslines and hypnotizing synths all reminiscent to earlier tracks in albums such as For Lack Of A Better Name and > album title goes here <. Imaginary Friends is reportedly a suggestion name by a fan in reference to Donnie Darko in which Joel responded that he would consider the name for the first track of his new album. So there is good news that that right that. More mau5 music.

More mau5 music which would probably include this next track ripped off of Deadmau5 Twitch streams by a fan. NVIDIA, a double dose of mau5 treats for the fans. This one is sure to hit the dance floors heavy as fans will go wild for the new sound. Classic, yet contemporary mau5. As the song switches back and fourth from heavy bass synths and elongated atmospheric buildups a quote somewhat references Imaginary Friends saying “I made a new friend. Real or imaginary?”.

I myself cannot wait to witness Deadmau5’s new and improved set in its full glory in Rosemont, Il this New Years Eve. Four trucks of production equipment, bring it on.

You got to hand it over to the choice artist pics of deadmau5. You will find some worth while artists listening to mau5trap on soundcloud. Eekkoo in particular had the honor of having Joel Zimmerman track him down on soundcloud. Since then eekkoo, aka Jon Doyan, has been releasing his master pieces of sound through mau5trap label.

It was not only style and sound that caught deadmau5 either. Rather it was also eekkoo’s immense knowledge of sound design. His experience cover producing, mixing and mastering his own tracks to teaching a production class in Montreal after years of self and professional study. Which he says helps him keep up to date with new technology. A definite advantage for his creative outlet among many. Doyan has also revealed to Thump.vice that he enjoys songwriting on the side of mixing and producing.

Further expressing his creative side he challenges himself to learn everyday with different projects. Since eekkoo favors techno vibes in his production he decided to take a spin on the original with his own dark and mellow sounds. Warren Avenue, one of his recent releases takes on a sound from the one of the birthplaces of techno house music; Detroit. In fact the track is named after a city street from there. Grab it for free on his soundcloud!

Eekkoo has also released an unnofficial remix of Jamie xx‘s song Loud Places. Turning his deep house style into a journey of uplifting sounds. Eekkoo, with this talent, may very well soon be a well known name around music community. With already good support and excellent playlist it seems likely.

ATTLAS releases new EP ‘Siren’

ATTLAS

A man of few words, this seemingly anonymous artist ATTLAS is all about his music. It is all he has shared with us so far, but we are not complaining. His music is quite breathe taking. All ATTLAS provides us with is a profile pic, a few teaser trailers and links to his music. A few speculated the artist to be Deadmau5 himself, others deem it to be a man by the name of Jeff Hartford. Either way it is refreshing to see an artist put more focus on his music than anything else.

First making noise with a beautiful remix of Aural Synapse by Deadmau5 for 5 Years of Mau5 a few months back ATTLAS has since been signed to mau5trap and been busy with music. Soon after releasing a bootleg remix of Tove Lo‘s Scream My Name. You can get both tracks for free on his soundcloud.

Most recently he had a feature on We Are Friends, an artist compilation album on mau5trap with Sabs as the first song starting off the lp with really energetic and deep basslines. And finally Siren’, released about a week ago, is an ep filled with wonderful sounds and compositions ranging in energy and tempo that should definitely be in your playlist. It is simply amazing. So follow him on soundcloud, linked below, and find out how you can get your paws on it.

After releasing the track list though much of Joel’s “fans” complained that the new album contained too many old familiar songs. Joel took to reddit to respond to these claims stating most tracks were unreleased and the problem of over-sharing on the internet is not under his control.

“well, there you go. tracklist is out. It’s another culmination of another years worth of work. and i’ve always made a point to share most of my work in progress with my fans and supporters. It is a little disheartening to see negative feedback about the lack of “new” music to the die hard fan who has probably been heard everything on there… but thats just the nature of “oversharing”. I’m still proud to call this body of work a good representative album of my production capabilities, whether youve heard it or not.

the idea i like to keep in mind, is that it might be hard for you to see it, but i think the larger portion of the mau5 world hasnt heard any of this. at all. think about new fans? or people who’d like an introduction to whatever it is i do. its not “for” those people, its not “for” the die hard fans… its kinda for everyone.

id hate to just lock myself in the studio, with no streams, no fan interaction, no song previews, no free releases on live.deadmau5.com then just make an annual appearance once a year with an album full of new stuff… thats just not my style. Albums (for me) arent produced in a single sitting, overnight. They take time… and during that time, i like to keep people posted on my progress and how its moving along, whether its a stream, soundcloud preview, or live.deadmau5.com release…. and if thats something that “COMPLETELY RUINS AN ALBUM” for you… then… well, shit. i dont know what to tell you.

in the end, im proud of this album. And whether you’ve heard some, most or all over the course of the time it took me to do it, i hope you enjoy it as well. :)”

Despite the negative feedback from so called fans, the mau5’s album is still getting great reviews. Calling it a bit of a departure, but a “bit of a head bopper” the last track of the album Seeya ft Colleen D’Agostino was premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio and has been dubbed the Hottest Record in the World. It was later shared on Mau5trap record’s soundcloud with really cool, dark cover art to fit the track. For those who pre-order the album will now receive Avaritia and Seeya instantly

Deadmau5 new album details

deadmau5-while-12-album-art-510Deadmau5‘s most anticipated album finally gets a title and a release date. This epic 25 track 2 disk LP we have all been waiting for gets yet another peculiar album title, keeping the trend going for peculiar album titles like 4×4=12 and >album title goes here<. While(1<2) is the name, and its meaning is simply a programming code command to indefinitely loop a track. It is no secret that Joel (deadmau5’s real name) is a computing genius. While the album was finished months ago in January as Joel announced on his Twitter account stating it is “something I’m proud of”, he recently revealed on his Live website that the official release date is this summer on the 17th of June digitally and physically a week later on the 24th.

Those words reminded and reassured his fellow fans on how immensely great this album will be. Although the album will not be released till next month, it will be available for pre-order on his Live website on the 20th of May. Those who pre-order will receive Avaritia, one of the tracks on the LP, as a preview. Those who do not, well, will just get a thirty second long teaser of the albums first single, which was originally released as part of deadmau5’s Seven Deadly Sins Soundcloud EP pack. Sign up to Deadmau5 Live to keep up with all his updates and do not forget to pre-order While(1<2) so you can be the first to hear one of the most anticipated electronic music albums of this year!
